AUSTRALIAN HONOURS

Congratulations to JOSH VAINIKOLO who has just been named in the Australian u17s squad.  Josh plays for The Entrance and has played as high as First grade for that Club in 2012.  It is a fitting reward to a player who has represented his Club, CCJRU, NSW Country and NSW prior to achieving this career highlight.  Well done Josh and good luck with your future representative career.

Terrigal Trojans dominated the 2012 CCJRU Grand Finals held at Bluetongue Stadium on 15 Sep.  In addition to winning the four Grand Finals they contested, the Club also won the first past the post u10s competition as well as the CCJRU Club Championship.

The day commenced with the Terrigal under u11s reversing the major semi final result with victory over The Entrance by a comfortable margin.  The Terrigal u12s started well before securing a tight victory over a strong finishing Warnervale squad.  The u13s followed a similar course with the Woy Woy squad winning their third consecutive Grand Final over an Ourimbah team who fought hard to reduce a large deficit.  There were many lead changes in an exciting u14s match where Kariong had to wait for a difficult try conversion from Ourimbah to be unsuccessful before they could celebrate their one point victory.

In the u15s Terrigal jumped away quickly to hold a big lead at half time, Avoca replied strongly and Terrigal were unable to increase their lead before taking out their 5th successive title.  Woy Woy weren’t quite able to complete a late season charge in the u16s, falling just short against the Terrigal team that wrapped up a great day for the Club Champions.  The u17s match was a fitting finale to a fantastic day of Junior Rugby Union with Warnervale defeating minor premiers The Entrance by just one point in a thrilling match where Warnervale had to defend for the last minute with The Entrance only metres from the tryline.

2012  CCJRU GRAND FINALS

The semi and preliminary finals are complete and we are left with two teams in each age playing for their premiership.  The Grand Finals will take place at Bluetongue Stadium on 15 September, commencing at 8am.  The standard of play during the finals series was exceptional and with the ultimate prize on offer, we should see lots of fantastic skills from all the players on Saturday.  If you are supporting a player, a team, or just a follower of Rugby, this is the best day of the year - so get to Bluetongue early and settle in for a day filled with action.

2011 JUNIOR RUGBY GRAND FINAL RESULTS

The Central Coast Junior Rugby Union season was finalised on Saturday 10 September with the Grand Finals held at Bluetongue Stadium.  Presented with clear weather and a well grassed field all of the players performed to their best, providing a great spectacle for the large crowd.

The day commenced with a hard fought under 11 match where Warnervale upset the minor premiers Terrigal 14-7.  In all of the following matches, apart from the u15s, the Minor Premiers went on to complete successful seasons by winning their Premiership.  Terrigal u10s were presented with Premiership medallions for their success in their ‘first past the post’ competition.

In the u12s, the Woy Woy team won their 3rd straight title by defeating Terrigal 29-15.  In the u13s it was Ourimbah who were triumphant against Kariong 18-7.  Terrigal u14s completed another undefeated season with victory over a determined Woy Woy squad 33-5.

The u15s win to Ourimbah meant they became the first Club to take out 2 Grand Finals when they won a cliff-hanger with a penalty goal to Toby Carver after full time giving them an 8-7 result over Terrigal. The winners of the following two matches also gave their Clubs a 2nd Grand Final victory. Hot favourites Warnervale u16s had a tough battle against The Entrance before sealing the match 29-12.  The last match of the day showcased the Juniors who will be progressing into Senior Competition in 2012.  In a tough and skilful encounter it was Woy Woy took the honours over Avoca Beach 22-17.
