CCJRU Wet Weather Protocol
When wet weather arrives it can be disruptive to rugby administrators, families and the participants. This protocol attempts to make everybody aware of what provisions are in place to administer this situation and what participants can expect to occur after the rain has gone in relation to those games cancelled due to bad weather.
CCJRU BY- LAW/COMPETITION RULE: PART 20 ALLOTMENT OF GROUNDS
(1)
Matches will be played upon such grounds as directed by the CCJRU.
(2)
In the case of cancellation of matches the CCJRU shall contact clubs in order to notify players as early as possible. Where possible clubs must notify the CCJRU Secretary by 5pm Friday night if their ground is closed due to wet weather or if it poses a significant safety risk to players if played on.
(3)
In the event that three (3) or more grounds are closed at any one time the entire round will be cancelled and will not be rescheduled with NO points allocated to any teams.
(4)
All attempts will be made to reschedule cancelled games (Sundays probably) or play double points the next time those teams play.
(5)
In the event that a game cannot be rescheduled the result will be determined by points for/against on the competition table.
In respect to wet weather and use of "training facilities" participants are advised to refer to the CCJRU website page (SMS Bounce Back) that provides the contact number and SMS code listings to use so that you can identify if a ground is closed/open. Ourimbah Rugby Park and Gosford Showground are not listed because they are not under council jurisdiction. Usually, these clubs follow the "status quo" direction of council. Contact the relevant clubs/coaches for information.
In respect to game days, CCJRU will follow the direction of councils and where possible have radio announcements (STARFM 104.1) and text messages sent to the club President & Secretary by Friday evenings. NOTE: (Council updates it SMS Bounce Back Service 5pm Fridays). If in doubt, arrive at venue ready to play!
